Is ChillHub free, or only at the start?
ChillHub is free to start. Opening the site costs nothing, your first video calls cost nothing, and nobody asks for a card before you have met a single person. If you want to know what a live 1 on 1 call with someone new feels like, you can find out without paying.
It is not free forever. Past the free part, new matches and carrying on with a call run on coins. This page shows where the free part ends, so nothing about it is a surprise.
02Day one
What do new people get the first time?
Free matches. Every new person starts with some, attached to the guest session automatically. There is no code to enter and no trial quietly running in the background. Each time you tap Start and are paired with someone, one free match is used.
We do not print the number here. It is a setting that can change, and a figure on a web page would go stale.
03The refill
What is the Reward Center, and how often can I claim?
The Reward Center is where more free matches come from once your first ones are gone. It sits at the top of the match screen. Open it and claim what is on offer; the Reward Center shows what each claim gives.
You can claim several times a day, so the free allowance is not a one-off welcome present; it comes round again. How much each claim gives and when the next one is ready are shown inside the Reward Center. A short visit each day is a good way to make use of it.
The Reward Center is part of the match screen, so open that first and look at the top.
04Where paying begins
At what point do coins start?
When your free matches are used up and the next Reward Center claim is not ready yet. At that point a new match costs coins. The rule is simple: a new match draws on a free match if you have one, and on coins if you do not.
A call has a free part as well. A match begins with free time; if you keep talking past it, the call continues on coins, and a notice appears in the call before that happens. If you have no coins at that point, you are asked to top up and the call ends.
Coins are bought on the site, and you see the price before you agree to anything. What they are and how buying works is covered on the coins page, so this page can stay on the question of what is free.
05At no cost
What can I do without spending anything?
A few things. You can open the site, look around, and start matching as a guest with your free matches. You can browse the Who's online list and read profiles. You can claim from the Reward Center whenever a claim is ready. And you can read every page on this site, including how ChillHub works, before deciding whether it is for you.
Trying a 1 on 1 video call is covered by the free start. That is the point of it: you should know what you are getting before money enters the picture.
06One table
What is the difference between free matches, the Reward Center and coins?
Free matches are used first, Reward Center claims top them up, and coins come last. The table sets the three side by side.
The three ways a match is covered | Free matches | Reward Center | Coins |
|---|
| What it is | Matches every new person starts with. | A place to claim more free matches. | Paid credit for new matches and for carrying on with a call. |
| Where you find it | Already on your guest session. | At the top of the match screen. | In the coin store on the site. |
| How often | Once, when you first arrive. | Several times a day. | Whenever you choose to buy. |
| Costs money? | No. | No. | Yes. The price is shown before you pay. |
| When it is used | First. | When you claim. | After the free part runs out. |
07The chill approach
How do I make free matches last?
Spend them on people, not on searching. A new match is what uses up a free match, so giving a decent conversation a fair chance before you ask for another makes them last. Keep in mind that a call has free time too, and the notice in the call tells you when it is about to be used.
Two more habits help. Claim from the Reward Center when it is ready, since it is easy to forget. And follow the people you enjoy, so that next time you can go back to someone you already know. The home page explains the different ways to start a conversation.
